I am pleased to announce the appointment of Patricia L. Price, PhD as Associate Provost for Academic Administration and Faculty Development at Baruch College.

Provost Price began her academic career at Florida International University in Miami, where she was promoted to full Professor of Geography in the Department of Global and Socio-Cultural Studies.  She has a significant record of publications in peer reviewed journals, and is co-author of a popular textbook.  While at Florida International, Price received research funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (2), National Science Foundation (4), and the US Department of Education, among others.  Her dissertation research on the link between female head-of-household and women's poverty in urban Mexico was supported by a Fulbright-Hays dissertation research grant. Dr. Price is fluent in Spanish.

While at FIU, Price led the Human Subjects Research Oversight for the Division of Research, and was a Faculty Fellow in the Office of the Provost.  She was selected as a Fellow by the American Council on Education at Harvey Mudd College and the Claremont Graduate University.  Her fellowship year project was "Diversity in Higher Education: Plans, Policies and Practices."

Price comes to Baruch from within CUNY, where she as served for two years as Academic Dean at the Stella and Charles Guttman Community College in Manhattan.  Dr. Price has been active in Middle States Accreditation, and is well versed in CUNY procedures for academic appointments, budgeting, and curricular development.

I thank the search committee, led by Dean Aldemaro Romero, Jr. for their excellent work, and thank Dr. Linda Lemiesz for her interim service for the last seven months and during the transition that is to come.

Please join me in welcoming Associate Provost Patricia Price to Baruch.
