Beth Macy is the author of three bestselling nonfiction books about marginalized people in America. Based in southwest Virginia for three decades, her reporting has won many national awards, including a J. Anthony Lukas prize and a Nieman Fellowship in Journalism from Harvard. Her 2018 book, Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors, and the Drug Company That Addicted America won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, was called a “masterwork of narrative nonfiction” in the New York Times, and was named to more than a dozen Best Books of 2018 lists.
