Department of English

As a Major

A major in English will be of great value to students preparing for such business and professional careers as editing, publishing, science and technical writing, advertising, public relations, and communications and law. The English major may specialize and choose courses that emphasize an interest in literature, creative writing or linguistics. Students who are planning to major in English should arrange to meet with a faculty advisor in the department.

As a Minor

English may be taken as a Tier III Minor by selecting 2 courses numbered 3000 or above in addition to an appropriate capstone course. All 4000-level offerings in the Department of English or an Independent Studies course in English may serve as the capstone course.
